Lash/Chronicle holiday tournament under way Photos by Alphonso Abbott Jr. BY TIMOTHY RAMSEY THE CHRONICLE Day one of the Lash/Chronicle Tour nament provided everything a basketball fan could want. There were close games, blow outs, dramatic comebacks and more. After the dust settled on the first day of action, Mt. Tabor looks like the team to beat in the Lash Division, while North Forsyth looked impressive in the Chronicle Division. With the top two seeds in the Chronicle Division (Walk ¬ ertown and Atkins) getting a bye on Day One, this Saturday could provide some fireworks. Christmas for the City BY TEVIN STINSON THE CHRONICLE The holiday spirit per meated the Benton Con vention Center last Thurs day evening as thousands 90 03 O is came together to celebrate Christmas. For the past decade Love Out Loud, a local non-profit, has partnered with local churches, busi nesses, and other non- profits to host Christmas for the City and this year the event was bigger than ever. Imagine the entire city coming together for a Christmas party and you get the idea of Christmas for the City. The event had some thing for everyone. There were live performances, arts & crafts, food, ven- dors, photo opportunities, and of course, a special appearance Clause. While from Santa helping her grandson at the Cookie Decorating Station, Te resa Robinson said it was her first time attending Christmas for the City but it wouldn’t be her last. Robinson said, “I think it is great that we have some thing where everyone can celebrate the holidays. There are people here from all walks of life and that’s what the holidays are all about - coming together.” Photo by Tevin Stinson the City brought people from all walks of life together to celebrate the Christmas for holidays.
